3 D’s – Declutter, Destash, Dispose

I have a bad habit. When I find something I like in clothing, I tend to buy multiples. I even get two of the same color because, you know, things wear out.

Yes, moving to more merino wool items has helped. I wear more for function and comfort and very little for style. Even before the merino, I cleaned out several large garbage bags of things the just didn’t fit or I just didn’t like.

A second purge started early this year as I purchased merino things (many from resale sites, some from wool&, and a lot from Woolx). I even cleaned out a lot of shoes as I purchased more Allbirds Wool Runners.

But I still have too many things. I need to work towards a color capsule as well as cull things I really never wear.

I’m going to try the reverse hanger trick as well as putting my many t-shirts into the cubes backwards. Any that are facing front or hung normally after 6 months, stay. The rest go via donation or resale. I will start this in June and donate in December.

Then I will move on to the winter items. Long-sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, and heavier pants. Reverse in December and donate or sell in June.

Is it time for you to Declutter your closet, Destash your clothing, and Dispose of them via donation or resale?

I feel your pain! I too have heavily destashed recently but, my closet is still bulging. As I’ve examined each remaining piece in my wardrobe, I still wish to keep them want but know I likely don’t need all of this stuff. And of course, I continue to purchase new wool pieces. I may just need to buy one, donate one method, every time I buy a new piece I donate or sell one in its place. Decisions, decisions! Such a dilemma. 🧐

I tried to do the one in, one out when we were full-time in our RV. Yup, that didn't work so well. My problem is I love quirky tees & sweatshirts but I know I can't wear them all. LOL!
