C or See Me

Have you ever felt invisible? I have. Not most times. In fact, I sometimes feel too visible. Most of my life I worried about how I looked, how I sounded, how I appeared to others. Now in my 70s, I worry less about what others think of me. I’m still me. I haven’t changed. Well, except for looking older…

The one time I felt invisible was during a visit to Disney World. It was for our tenth anniversary and we had several days planned. I was having some back issues, especially when walking a lot, so we rented a scooter. I admit to loving the extended energy I had from using it. A world of difference.

A world of difference with how others saw me. Or didn’t. Being at a lower height I was amazed at how many adults didn’t see or acknowledge me until they were ready to run right into me. The children were different, they saw me and walked around me without missing a beat. It was an enlightening experience…

Have you ever felt invisible?

That's a sad commentary on most of our health systems today. I know this has been a tough battle for you and hope you can get the right answers soon. It's sucks to be invisible!

Lately I’ve felt invisible at certain doctors offices, and when I was sent to the ER due to blood clots. Trying to figure my health issues has been a challenge especially since what I’ve been diagnosed with is a Rare Autoimmune Disease.
Some doctors have never heard of it and dismiss my symptoms as anxiety or depression, when in fact I’m in a lot of pain and frustrated at the lack of care.
This has been very eye opening for me, and I’m really having to fight hard to advocate for myself in order to try find the right doctors/specialists so I can get the correct medical help.
