I spy a stye in my eye…

Actually, I can see three of them inside the bottom lid of my left eye. Over the years I’ve had them in the eyelash line, but this is the first inside the eye. Warm compresses several times a day are helping but if it’s not better on Monday, I’ll be calling my eye doctor since it could be a bacterial infection (yes, I rub my eyes a lot thanks to dry eye syndrome).

What is a stye?

An internal stye (hordeolum) is an inflamed oil gland on the inner edge of your eyelid. A bacterial infection is the usual cause.

When you have an internal stye, an oil gland swells up and forms an abscess (pocket of pus). This leads to pain and other symptoms. While the stye may go away on its own, some people need a minor procedure to drain the pus and clear the inflammation.  source: Cleveland Clinic
