Jaded at the movies…

As I watched an action movie on Netflix the other night, I realized something. Most movies don’t thrill me anymore. There is a lot of “sameness” to them and I get the “I’ve seen this multiple times before” feeling.

I’ve had more enjoyment from the various limited series that have been taken from various novels. Harlan Coban ones were the first series we watched. Since then, we’ve watched half a dozen series or more. Occasionally we find one that doesn’t click and we just stop watching. Much cheaper than going to the movies and finding out you don’t enjoy the flick.

I find myself watching baking shows a lot. Great background, funny interactions between people, and yes, I know much of it is staged, but I still get a kick out of it all.

I do think both the pandemic and the strikes in Hollywood have killed a lot of good movies and series. Sad, but a reality we have to live with.

You know what? Think I’ll go read a book. I’ve got thousands on my Kindle, just waiting for me. How about you?

I haven’t been in a movie theatre in years! I don’t do Netflix series, either. If I’m not on the computer editing books or on the golf course, you’ll find me reading with the Food or Golf channels on in the background.
